Safety Centre

Practical guidance to protect your privacy, avoid harm, and keep your rishta search sincere and secure on NikahNoor.

1. Protect your privacy

1 Use blur until match

Keep Hide my photos until we match enabled in Edit Profile. Others only see a blurred photo until both of you accept interest. Clear photos are not sent to their device before a match.

2 Share personal details slowly

Do not share your phone number, home address, workplace, ID numbers, or financial details early in a conversation. Stay on NikahNoor messaging until trust is built and family is involved.

3 Choose what you show

Your bio, city, and preferences are visible to other members. Avoid putting sensitive information in your bio or display name. You can update or remove details anytime in Edit Profile.

2. Safe and respectful chat

Do

  • Be polite, sincere, and clear about marriage intentions
  • Keep conversations appropriate for a rishta context
  • Involve a wali or family member when things become serious
  • Take time — good matches do not need pressure
  • Prefer verified profiles when possible

Don’t

  • Pressure anyone for photos, calls, or meetings
  • Send or ask for intimate images
  • Share contact details in the first few messages
  • Continue chatting if you feel uncomfortable — block and report
  • Discuss or request money, gifts, or financial help

3. Avoid scams and fake profiles

! Common warning signs

  • Someone asks for money, “fees”, tickets, or emergency help
  • They refuse video calls or family involvement for a long time
  • They push you off the app very quickly (WhatsApp only, etc.)
  • Story feels inconsistent, or photos look stock / stolen
  • They claim to be abroad and need funds to travel or marry

✓ What to do

  • Never send money — NikahNoor staff will never ask you for money via chat
  • Use Get Verified and prefer members who are verified
  • Report the profile immediately and block them
  • If you already shared details, change passwords and tell a family member

4. If you decide to meet

1 Involve family

When a conversation becomes serious, involve your wali or a trusted family member. Serious rishta discussions are safer with family awareness.

2 Meet carefully

  • Choose a public place
  • Tell a family member where you are going and when you will return
  • Do not go alone to a private or unknown location
  • Arrange transport yourself; do not depend only on the other person

5. Report and block

1 How to report

In a chat, open the menu (⋯) and choose Report. Select a reason and add details if needed. You can also report from a profile when that option is available.

2 How to block

Use Block in the chat menu. You will no longer see each other’s messages or appear in each other’s lists. Blocking is for your safety — use it whenever you feel unsafe or pressured.

3 What we do

Our team reviews reports. Accounts that harass, scam, or break our rules may be suspended or banned. False reports can also affect your account.
